Eureka California-Big Cats Can Swim LP
Again, Eureka California is killing it right now. This record made my best of list last year and it has one of the best songs about black metal ever written. It also has other great subject matter like JFK and dealing drugs. This can literally take any subject, add some fuzzed out dream pop sound and make it great.

Not from the Golden State, Eureka California hail from Athens, GA, where a flourishing music scene still produces some fine music. With their debut LP, the trio delivers a definitive statement of disenchantment that adds to the annals of great bands from that Southern college town.
The songs on Big Cats Can Swim are short and to the point with no need for grandiose filler, much like The Ramones. There’s a lot of fuzz, a la early Jesus and Mary Chain, though the tracks more rooted in Nuggets garage rock without sounding derivative. Actually, it’s an updated garage for modern frustrations, with a hint of Wipers-like doom sneaking through the tunes.
As an impressive beginning, Big Cats Can Swim tells of some greater music to come. I’ll be waiting.

Crackle! Fuzz! Pop! CD Singles Club, by Good Grief
Good Grief consists of our three favorite dudes in the whole UK. They are the best human beings for taking us on the most awesome tour of our lives, when they didn’t even know us. Seeing their set every night on tour was so fucking cool and we went through some bad withdrawals after the last show, especially since they didn’t have any physical recordings and not many songs online. But here are some! I suck at describing what music sounds like but if you like us you’ll like them.

I’m going to start getting incessant probably. It’s just that this is going to be like, so much fun. Some certain bands are I think gonna have new records, and that’s really exciting. It’s also going to be fun to see how five bands are going to play this show.
Anyway, you shouldn’t miss it, really.
